Overview and other details

Course Description

On-Demand – 16 CPEs

Internal and external auditors in today’s complex IT environments must understand core IT risks and controls. Information security knowledge is essential in meeting today’s security challenges and for providing assurance that IT risks are being adequately addressed. This on-demand class is designed to help IT auditors, financial & operational auditors, and audit management meet today’s challenges and will highlight key concepts necessary to address important IT infrastructure and business application risks. During this class you will examine essential IT general controls and business application controls that require audit attention to provide reasonable assurance regarding the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the enterprise’s information assets. Presented in straightforward language, this introductory class will provide you with a comfortable knowledge of IT and Information Security terminology, risks, key controls and internationally recognized information security frameworks and resources. You will leave with a solid foundation in the basics of information technology as they apply to addressing critical enterprise IT risks.

BONUS OPTION: Introduction to Cryptography & Encryption Course
If you would like to also take our Introduction to Cryptography & Encryption (2-CPE) course, we’re offering it for only $50 after the purchase of this course. This course will run on the same timeline as the Assessing Cybersecurity & IT Risks and Controls course.
Most auditors know the word “encryption” but do not know what it really means. This on-demand class will demystify encryption concepts so that you will finally understand what does happen when you apply encryption to an e-mail or view HTTPS in Internet communications. After this class you will have the confidence you need to push back during audits and ask probing questions when an auditee or an IT professional says “don’t worry, the critical information is encrypted.”  If you are considering taking the CISA examination you will need to know the information covered in this class. The knowledge you gain during this class will give you a head start on preparing for the CISA exam to correctly answer those CISA encryption questions the other test-takers will probably answer incorrectly. Representative CISA sample questions will be reviewed during the webinar to reinforce encryption concepts.
